In Memory of my little CoCo

We bring them into our home,
Give them the love and affection.
And they more than respond to our care.
When they repay us with unwavering protection

They come nudge you to play
And wag their tail to ask for a treat
Romp and play with their squeaky toy
Then they come and curl up by your feet,

They let you know they are there to comfort you
And lay their head across your toes
They serve their master, get under our feet,
What they are thinking nobody knows.

Look longingly out of the window,
To await their master to return
With a bark, to let you know
To show them new tricks to learn

To all that come there they are ready to greet.
Until they take that last long loving breath
That look in their eyes, to let you know it's alright,
They will protect you to the death

You have loved him with all of your might.
The worst and best thing that we can do, they know
Is to say goodbye little buddy, you've lost your fight
Give them the dignity to let them go.

E're we meet once again, we know we've done right
We'll run and chase rainbows just after the rain.
And the gleam in your eyes once more will be bright.
For the both of us there will be no more pain.
